Products › System Specification
An Autopage installation normally comprises three components:
Autopage Sender*
This is the program that handles all outgoing SMS, Paging and Email traffic.
Autopage Database
This is currently an Access database which provides storage of all customer and system information as well as the actual message queue and logfile. The database is protected against unauthorised write access.
The front-end application.
This will be one or more of the following:
- Autopage for Windows
- Email Gateway*
- File Importer*
- Lone Star
- Ask-John*
- Autopage Remote Input Server (ARIS) *
- Message Buttons
All products are designed and tested to run on Windows 2000 professional, 2000 server, XP professional and 2003 server. We will support Vista Business in the near future.
All applications marked with an asterisk * may be configured to run as Windows Services if required.
The PC or Server that runs Autopage Sender needs to have the correct connectivity for the services that you intend to use:
- An RS232 serial port for the GSM modem (most USB to RS232 converters work well).
- A TCP/IP internet connection for both UK paging operators.
- A Dial-up modem for paging if Internet is not available.
- Certain high-speed SMS links also require TCP/IP – we will tell you if this is needed.
- If you have an Email Gateway running on a separate PC from Autopage Sender, the Gateway must be accessible for incoming SMTP (port 25 by default) but the Sender PC will originate outgoing Email to your main server.
The software will run on any PC that comfortably supports running one of the specified operating systems provided that there is about 32Mb of RAM available above that required for the operating system, and enough disk space for the applications and associated files: 50Mb should be plenty – but 200Mb allows room for the database to grow.
Permissions
Anyone who runs Setup must have Administrative rights to all destination locations.
All applications/services must have FULL ACCESS, including create and delete, to the directory containing the Autopage Database.
Applications and services also need to access parts of the registry from time to time. Certain user configurable settings may not be available if the user does not have sufficient write permissions.
