The Office on the move

The Autopage Email Gateway provides a link between your existing email systems and GSM phones or pagers, allowing messages to be exchanged without the need for new hardware.

Typical usage

Email Gateway provides email to and from every phone for any office that uses email as an essential add-on. Where a large number of people need to send messages to mobiles, but the expected usage does not justify the cost of additional software packages. Email Gateway is also used as an e-mail fault reporting tool for IT systems.

Email Gateway benefits

  • E-mail can be sent to ordinary mobile phones and pagers without the need to install extra software on every PC on a network or on phones
  • Email can be sent to and from all mobiles without the expense of specially configured phones
  • The system uses in-house connectivity and security – it is not a hosted service so your information is safe
  • Distributed e-mails will automatically reach staff in the field more quickly

Email Gateway features

  • Messages can be sent to people named in a database or to any mobile within defined number ranges
  • Messages can be sent to mobile phones or pagers or both
  • If the email originator has requested a receipt, an email version of a GSM delivery report will be sent if your GSM network supports delivery reports
  • Received SMS messages can be forwarded using the in-house (or a public) SMTP server. The destination will be an email address at the beginning of the message, the last address to send a message to the sender of the SMS or a pre-defined ‘postmaster’ address
  • It can be hooked onto automated reporting systems that only email problems when you need instant notifications

Application Description

What we supply: all software and GSM modem. What you require: PC and SIM card. For details of hardware requirements see Computer Specification

The system provides a simple SMTP server that runs on the existing network and converts email messages into SMS or pager messages. Incoming SMS messages can in turn be forwarded as email. The application presents itself as an SMTP server. It works in either of two modes - Names or Numbers. In Name mode it will only accept messages to people named in a database. In number mode you can send messages to any mobile within defined number ranges. You can define a dummy domain name and non-standard ports to assist routing. In order to keep messages short, administrators can control the withholding of senders’ email addresses and subject lines from the message. The system is compatible with software that places the destination in the subject line. Autopage will send all messages accepted in the usual way. If the email originator has requested a receipt, an email version of a GSM delivery report will be sent if your GSM network supports delivery reports.
